topic Dynamically use color hex code for conditional formatting? in Water Cooler

This is purely a hypothetical question with no impact on any business requirements. I have a column in a table that is populated with a color hex code. Is there a way to dynamically change the color of a cell in the table to be the corresponding color?

I could probably hard code a case statement in a formula column to look like "if #4466ff then 1, if #87909e then 2, etc." and then use that as the basis for conditional formatting rules. But I'm wondering if I'm missing some way to do it more dynamically in case there were a lot of colors.

Again, this is purely a question that popped into my mind that has no business impact if it is not achievable in a dynamic fashion.

Hi Michael -

It's a great thought and something we should think about. However, today I think your proposed approach is the probably the best.
