I can totally relate to finding hobbies that bring a little magic into daily life. During the pandemic, I started experimenting with small creative projects at home, like making handmade gifts and decorations. One thing that really stuck was exploring unique, artisanal items—like discovering Camp Hollow. Their hand-painted porcelain pieces, especially the little animal necklaces and cake toppers, made simple moments at home feel special, and it even inspired me to get a bit more creative with decorating my space. It’s amazing how something small and thoughtfully crafted can turn ordinary routines into something a bit more joyful.

What a wild time the last few years have been. Living in such a big city, I realized quickly that my time mostly was dominated by commuting to and from work on a crowded metro and happy hours in the city. After that had commenced due to the pandemic, it forced me to think about all of the activities I really enjoyed. Some, I look back on and am glad I stopped, such as the few weeks I was obsessed with playing my bright yellow Nintendo switch. My less embarrassing activities included making banana bread, journaling, riding my Peleton, and cake decorating.

One of the only hobbies that have stuck has been journaling. Every day, I write in my 5 minute journal. It is a nice way to express and remember to practice gratitude.

What are some of your quarantine hobbies that have stuck around?

I got into Origami at the time. What has stuck with me is now my involvement in little art projects: more origami, making friendship bracelets, making perler bead art with my daughters, etc.
