Filter the values based on the results of other insight

I am trying to filter on the invoice numbers that are returned by another insight. Is there anyway I can pass the values based on other insight without joining the tables?

I have a report that returns invoice numbers tied to PO. I pass only those invoice numbers to my other report.  These tables are not joined obviously. They are 2 different data models.

  • Hi Swapna,

You can use InQuery filter in Incorta to pass list of invoice numbers to other report.

Following video shows how to use InQuery filter in Incorta:

  • Hi Anurag,

Thanks for the reply. This video shows to retrieve value from another table/view, but it doesn't show the values returned by another report. Please let me know if I am missing something.

  • Hi Swapna,

You can create Incorta Table to get values returned by another report.

This video shows you how to do that:

  • Hi Anurag,

Thank you for the response. I see where you  are going with this. It will work, however this is not a feasible solution for end users.

What I am trying to do is migrate OBIEE report to Incorta. This OBIEE report has a filter defined for invoice number where it goes to other report and gets the invoice number tied to the Purchase Order. Per your solution, I created an incorta table with Purchase order and invoice number. When I Ioaded the table, there were 290M rows. Then I created another table with Invoice number in my filter with the expectation that it would return only the Invoice number tied to that PO, but all the Invoice details defined in the main report(not the incorta table). The challenges I am facing is

    1) Load time - The end users don't have ability to load the tables.

    2) Data set is huge. Its is taking 37 minutes to load the Incorta table form the staging.

    3) When I define the Inquery filter and run the main report, it is taking 15 minutes and the data doesnt look right.

May be MV is the solution for this.

  • Hi Swapna,

The feature you are requesting is on our roadmap and will be made available in the product in a near-term release. You will be able to define an insight that returns a list of values of invoice numbers. This list of values can then be used as a filter (Exists) in the parent query.

In the interim, we are happy to review the alternatives with you. I will let Amar coordinate and review this with you.

  • Thank You Ashwin!

An alternative solution to tackle this issue would be great. Please let me know what day and time works best or Amar. He can reach me at stavtum@starbucks.com
