Set Alert When Data Changes

I'm trying to set up an alert that tells me when an item/part number's cost changes. I have the dashboard built, but I can't figure out how to set an alert on the dashboard.

  • Dan Brock  I used those. My question really is: I can't figure out what condition/trigger I should set up so that I get an alert whenever an item/part number's cost changes. Specifically, when a cost roll is done within the ERP and what the resulting new cost is versus the old cost. 

    The item/part cost is a Measure and the data type is Double. I was thinking about concatenating it with a time stamp and then using a condition that says if one doesn't match the other, then send alert. But I'm not sure if that's the best option.

    • Michelle Fox Can you create a table that only shows item price changes?  If you can do that, you can build your alert to send anytime the table has any rows in it.

  • Dan Brock  I'm sure we could. That leads us down the path of creating new tables for all kinds of data changes though. I was hoping there was some functionality within formulas that would be able to avoid a lot of back-end developer work. 

    • Michelle Fox It shouldn't be any more back-end work.  It may be easiest to talk through during a working session.  I will work with Tristan to set something up with you this week and we can discuss via a web call.
