How to configure a mail alert when Scheduled data load fails?

I want to receive an email notification whenever a Scheduled Schema load gets successful/failed. How can I achieve it in Incorta?

  • Hi, the following section from our online documentation describes the steps needed to setup dashboard alerts based on schema load statuses: https://docs.incorta.com/4.8/set-load-alert/

Dustin Basil  Is IncortaMetadata schema implementation a The pre requisite for Email configurartion ? Or we can do without it as well?

    • ANKUSH JAIN IncortaMetadata schema implementation is a prerequisite for getting access to the schema load data. Data alerts work out of the box as long as you have configured your tenant for email as detailed here: https://docs.incorta.com/4.8/email/

    • ANKUSH JAIN did you get this to work as desired? This does seem like a really round about way of getting the alert.

I currently have a case open with Incorta on this as I think it should be part of the function of scheduling the loads. What I envision is extra properties in the schedule that would specify who an email goes to and when (success/fail). The other part I think would be great is to allow you to enter an expected run time. So if you know that a load takes no more than 30 minutes, you put that in the schedule and if it runs for longer, you get a notification.

  • Martin Carnegie :I am still having some issues with the Audit Schema setup. But I totally agree with your point here that if a schema refresh goes into queue for more than 20-30 minutes than an alert should be triggered. Will post solution as soon as it is setup and it would be really great if you will be able to share whenever Incorta responds back to your query.

    • ANKUSH JAIN I ended up opening a case with Incorta and they provided me with the solution. I was not given a page to download the files from, so you may have to open a case also. Not sure if it will help, but my case number was 9010.

Basically, there is a dashboard and a data alert ZIP file that you import. You then set up the alert with the time intervals and who to send the alert to. Then you schedule the IncortaMetadata schema load to run every 15 minutes (that is what we wanted to get timely information)

So far it works ok, but if something fails, you will receive an email at each time interval until the schema is successfully loaded. So I came in one morning and had about 20 emails. But I guess better to know.

One thing I might look at is how to work this in with an event monitoring tool like SCOM. We do have SCOM agents on all our Linux servers, so this would the best for us to work in with the enterprise monitoring tools.
