Filter issue - cannot ignore filter selection and go back to original state when no filter value was selected

I have an issue with no option provided to a user to go back to original filter value (when no filter value was selected), other than removing the filter. That action is not desired, since I wish all pre-defined report filters to stay on top of the report and avoid user searching for relevant filter to restore it back from the main filter section (when clicking on "filters" button on the top). A good example, when pre-defined filter provides user with an option to define reference period where default date period is not defined. After particular date period is selected by a user, there is no other option to refer back to original state ang ignore specific time period selected, other than removing the filter, so it disappears from the screen. Would be great to have a default option of ignoring filter, without removing it from dashboard view.
