Running totals are excellent to show cumulative calculations. However, when creating a formula such as sum()/sum(), the running total results in numbers which are incorrect and misleading. Our example is shown below. Here we show the running totals of the numerator (hrs) and the denominator (recordables) right next to the running total of the sum(hrs)/sum(recordables) formula column. For example, the second row numerator should be 860,529 and the denominator should be 5. This should result in the number 172,105 in the formula. However, the formula results in 357,705.

To be clear, the only ways to currently get past this are to do cumulative calculations in a materialized view for the numerator and denominator and do the secondary aggregation later on, or to use a results set in which case join functionality in one direction breaks.
